Tiger Commerce launches iPhone app for etailers on the move

We’re really delighted to announce the launch of our iPhone app – free to all Tiger Commerce software users. This new app – mCommerce - enables shop owners to access and respond to real-time data relating to their online retail operation – all through their iPhone.

Tiger Commerce is the first UK ecommerce website platform to launch an iPhone app to complement its browser based online shop software. mCommerce facilitates order tracking and on the move updates, allowing shop owners to stay in touch with new orders and new customer registrations, as well as  historical shop data – without needing to access a laptop or computer. Tiger Commerce clients can also use mCommerce to log into their shop’s Google Analytics account for up to date analysis on shop visitor data.

A whole car for a year, for free. That’s some competition

Just look at listing sites such as Ebay and you can see in-depth just how far a product line can run, and see just how many people have taken to the boot-fair style selling.

I’ve known people to simply pick a niche, (in this case car parts) buying the parts off of people on car forums, owners clubs even ebay, then reselling them, back on ebay or sometimes even the same sites they bought them from.

You get enough of a turnover coming in from those parts and you can look to setting up a website solely for that industry.

You don’t need to be a web designer any more to get a fully functional ecommerce website shop. Obviously if you want to really do well with what ever product you choose to sell, be it physical or service based you have to have passion.

People who start up a company to make a quick buck but don’t have the drive or passion to make sure their product is the best on the market often fail before they shine because of this.

Ford Fiesta Zetec S

When it comes to first cars, Ford must be the number one choice and the Fiesta has been a perennial favourite for decades. That’s good news for anyone looking for Ford’s super mini as it means masses of choice.

Our vote goes to the Fiesta Zetec S built between 1999 and 2002. It was a big seller when new, so there are loads to choose from, and most came in snazzy, sporty colour schemes. As it’s a Fiesta, it’s easy to look after, cheap to service and group eight insurance is just about manageable for new drivers. Throw in 38.7mpg average economy and this bundle of fun makes a lot of sense.

The performance of the Fiesta Zetec S is reasonable, seeing off 0-62mph in 10.3 seconds, but it’s the handling of this hatch that makes it so much fun. Agile, zippy and grippy, the Zetec S can teach plenty of more potent hot hatches a thing or three about plastering a smile on its driver’s chops. Make sure any car you look at has even tyre wear as uneven wear can indicate accident damage, and check the driver’s seat has not worn through. Otherwise, the Zetec S is very reliable and hugely entertaining.

Citroen C2 1.6i VTS

Once upon a time, Citroen had virtually the whole pint-pot performance car market to itself, first with the Saxo and then with the C2. It’s the latter of these that we recommend here because it’s newer and there are far more unmodified examples out there – as darlings of the tuning scene, Citroens have come in for more than their fair share of, erm, ‘tasteful’ upgrades.

By sticking to the C2 VTS rather than the more powerful VTR, new drivers will enjoy all the looks and handling fun of the faster car but at more friendly insurance rates. Group eight cover is good for a warm hatch, especially one that cracks 0-62mph in 8.3 seconds. Other running costs are just as reasonable thanks to 40.3mpg combined economy, while Citroen’s low labour rates mean regular servicing is a doddle – not that much should need doing as the C2 is very reliable.

The small boot and cramped rear seats mean the C2 VTS is best for those who don’t want to ferry their mates around too far. However, the compact size pays dividends on twisty roads, where the little Citroen zings with alert handling and loads of grip. It’s a great way to cut your hot hatch teeth without breaking the bank.

MINI One

It would be impossible to talk about affordable, fun cars without mentioning a MINI somewhere, so here it is. We’ve plumped for the MINI One as the most insurance-calming model, falling into group five to undercut the Citroen and Ford listed here. There’s also the welcome bonus of 43.5mpg average economy and a reputation for reliability that few can come close to.

Some early MINIs suffered with a few flaky trim parts and the front seat tilting mechanism was a weak spot, but these faults should have been sorted under warranty by now. Any car that doesn’t have an immaculate cabin should be avoided. Likewise, any car without a full service history is not worth bothering with as there are plenty of MINIs to pick from.

Choice does present its own problems with the MINI as no two are the same thanks to such a wide choice of options when the car was new. However, keep looking and you’ll find just the car for you. Do this and you’ll be rewarded with a great drive, superb handling and a sleek supermini that still looks good today. It should also hold its value better than any of its competitors, which is a crucial consideration for new drivers on a tight budget.

SEAT Ibiza 1.4 Sport

SEAT regards itself as the affordable sporting branch of the Volkswagen Group and it’s easy to see why when it has cars like the Ibiza Sport in its lineage. Made from 2002 until 2009, this generation of Ibiza is the one that brought the Spanish supermini into the mainstream.

Our favourite is the Sport in three-door form. It looks suitably athletic and the SEAT’s handling, steering and balance all back up this impression with their immediacy and precision. It also has just the right sporty looks without going overboard and scaring insurers, though this comes at the expense of outright pace as the SEAT needs 13.2 seconds to cover 0-62mph. With a group four rating, the Ibiza is even cheaper to get cover for than the MINI yet returns the same 43.5mpg economy.

The Ibiza is also one of the most spacious cars here and will easily cope with carrying four people and luggage. A simple, stylish cabin is complemented by sturdy build and most used models come with the optional air conditioning, plus a CD stereo as standard.

Daihatsu Copen
Age/mileage: 2003/35,000

Didn’t think you could afford a convertible as your first car? Think again as the Daihatsu Copen is not just an open-top, but a drop-top with a folding metal roof. Even group nine insurance is very affordable for a roadster.

The diminutive Copen has the same sort of folding roof as a Mercedes-Benz SLK, which means it’s all-year round practical. However, it is a two-seater with a small boot – 210 litres with the roof raised – and next to no luggage space when the roof is lowered and stowed under the rear deck.

Still, open-air fun is what the Copen is all about and its fizzy 660cc turbocharged engine loves to be revved hard to make the most of its 67bhp, providing 0-62mph in 11.7 seconds. A 1.3-litre engine replaced this unit in early 2007 and is a better bet for anyone who regularly undertakes longer journeys. Whichever engine you choose, though, the Copen is surprisingly fun to drive.

Daihatsu reliability and quality means the Copen lasts well and there have been no problems reported. The only thing to watch for is the spark plugs have been properly tightened into place as they can work loose otherwise. Be sure of this and the Copen will provide miles of smiles, roof up or down.

Yeah we all go there.

Its all about what products you have access to, or can create. The most successful small businesses are usually those which take advantage of someone’s passion, their skills, their enjoyment of doing those things. When someone is good at something, other people appreciate it and if its available to buy, they will buy it!

My girlfriends father is an artist, he spends most of his light filled hours of the day painting, reading and researching, and im sure there would be a business opportunity ready for him in selling his artwork, designs and sculptures online.

I’m not surprised when people do REALLY silly, clearly expensive things to their cars. It really goes beyond common sense when you witness how people spend their money. Some folk openly admit to having more money than sense and they are not afraid to flaunt it. A prime example is this car, all traditional engine parts have been replaced  with gold parts…what were you thinking? The car already looked like something you’d drink when you’re nauseous let alone shoving a gold encrusted engine, rims and other accessories in it.

Mr T would be in his element but honestly, what a waste of money. I think I’ll stick to my trusted used Mazda 2. Essex is a tough enough place for a car and judging eyes. I think if i rolled up to my local co-op in this Pepto-Bismol monstrosity, I’d finally know what its finally like to be pelted by eggs by youths . It’s scary how fast these 9 year olds grow up.

Everyone knows changing a tyre can be an awkward, messy and heavy affair but of all the chauvinistic male things stereotyping had lead everyone to believe it a man’s job. Well i am here to say anyone can do it and i am a female and awesome at changing wheels on my Audi, So awesome in fact i have even timed myself for fun. I won’t share my best time; i really don’t want to look like i have a big head, but it’s so easy.  I won’t lie, i struggled at first then i quickly got the hang of it.

My first ever experience of changing a tyre was when I bought my Audi A6 in Southampton, and after driving through some glass. It had a flat tyre within 30 minutes. I was on slip road about to join the motor way when i got a flat. I pulled over to a safe place and inspected the situation and luckily all the tools were in the boot. I did flick through the manual a bit, however quickly and easily i loosened the bolts, jacked up the car and removed the wheel. My only fear was not putting my spare wheel on tightly enough.  Thankfully i managed to get all the way home and since then whenever i see someone with a flat i cant hesitate to help.

Someone call the fashion police and a removal company in Nottingham…Chav’s are swarming the streets! It’s an abomination that this specie can breed! Can’t we please fit them with chastity belts and chop their goods off?? This is how poverty is spread i swear – deadbeats breed deadbeats, and have you ever noticed they are the ones that grow up and never leave their local village. It’s scary how chavs are quickly taking over. They prey on the weak and feeble like vampires in my opinion. They come out at night to cause more havoc than they’re worth, hiding in bike sheds, in train station huts and down country roads no one ever goes down so they can smoke a bit of weed and get high on a Tuesday night!

These kids are also turning into chavs at an ever increasing younger and younger age – i see 8 year olds smoking and wandering the park at midnight…where are the parents?? …Kebab shop or sitting in their blue transit van is my guess. Some parents are effin’ and blindin’, smoking and drinking in front of their kids, being a very bad influence and proving that should never of been allowed to be parents. Bullies tend to be chav’s – have you noticed that? I’ll defend the chavs for a moment and say the rich bitches are bullies too, but the chavs are the ones that have nothing going for them and see it as fun and clever to pick on people for ‘no reason at all’ I have unfortunately had the pleasure of meeting a few chav’s in my time, i seriously refuse to have anything to do with them.

So if you see a size 16 girl with her midriff showing, muffin top highlighting the beautiful 2 sizes too small tatty and dirty Jane Norman jeans with Reebok classic trainers on her feet and chunky gold hooped earrings decorated with some lovely cubic zirconia balls hanging on them – then  you’ve met a chav… and anything vaguely similar.

Burberry, fake designers, gold, trainers, hoodies, gold teeth, heavy chains, boobs out etc… are all things to be aware of.

A generation that should be extinct like the dinosaurs!

Renault is to launch a Twingo Gordini RS to mark the return of its historic white-striped models.  The car is based on the standard Twingo Renaultsport and powered by a 1.6 litre engine.  The sporty theme continues inside with bucket seats, quilted black leather upholstery adorning the Gordini logo and leather trimmed steering wheel. It boasts flash features like cruise control, automatic headlamps and individual sliding rear seats. ooo la la!!

But that is just the standard…for the sportIER people the opportunity to lower the chassis for a lower ride height or have an panoramic sunroof is also an intriguing option. It is not just a typical Renault. Dorset is a fine place to test drive this sporty number, through the hills and winding roads, this car has amazing handling and can tear away from lights with its 133 horses under the bonnet. Oh how we like it when they tease to please!
